Hope Island travelled down to the Coolangatta/Tweed course last Monday to take on the RACV Pines team in our first match of the series. It was a miserable morning with rain falling for most of the first 9 holes. At the halfway mark we were slightly ahead in most matches but when the rain cleared the team rallied and had a great first up win 3 ½ matches to 2 ½.

A big win to Mark Quinn, solid wins to Roger Worms and Michael Hofmeier with Adam Baker finishing with a square to seal our first victory. Greg Shipton and Richard Byrne were also right in their matches all the way but couldn’t quite get over the line.

3 special mentions, thanks to Links Golf & Wellbeing for supplying the team shirts and Titlelist balls for our matches, thanks to Shippo for sponsoring the matching team hats and thanks to Jamie Turner for following the team around in the rain and giving us match updates which I think is very important in this team matchplay format.
